Agnitum’s Outpost 9.1 security software enables users to formulate their own definition of malware
We are glad to announce the availability of a version update, Outpost 9.1.
Version 9.1 specifically targets potentially unwanted applications and lets the user adjust detection criteria, so that a favorite toolbar or password recovery tool doesn’t end up in trash.
What’s new in version 9.1?
Specific targeting of Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUA)
With the new update, Outpost 9.1 optimizes dramatically the detection of potentially unwanted applications (PUA). (A PUA may contain adware and spyware, install third-party toolbars or dialers, or have any other unclear objectives.)
New search categories for malware and PUA
These days it’s hard to draw the line between good and evil for each and every user, so Agnitum engineers have introduced flexible antivirus search settings to address individual preferences.
The user may choose whether Outpost should detect:
- Adware and other "gray" programs (grayware)
- Cracks, keygens and similar software (unwanted software)
- Commercial keyloggers, password recovery tools (riskware)
For the full list of improvements, consult Agnitum’s website.
May 1, 2014: End of support for Outpost Pro versions older than 8.0
Agnitum will no longer provide technical support or updates for all versions of Outpost Firewall Pro, Outpost Antivirus Pro, and Outpost Security Suite Pro older than v8.0.
Agnitum ceases support of Outpost 7.x products first released back in May 2010 to ensure up-to-date protection against evolving web-borne threats. The protection that older products may fail to deliver.
Users of Outpost product versions from 8.0 onwards may enjoy peace of mind and continue with their current products, however, it’s always recommended to use the latest cutting edge technology.
Having said that, we urge users with active license to upgrade to version 9.1 free of charge. To learn more about Outpost 9, check out What’s new in 9.1?
We’ll do our best to make this transition as smooth as possible and minimize any inconvenience to you:
- Outpost 9.1 solutions support all Windows platforms from XP onwards, both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
- If you have an active license for an earlier version, you can upgrade to the appropriate 9.1 product free of charge. Just download Outpost 9.1 and enter your current license key into the registration screen.
- If your existing license has expired, you can take advantage of a 40% to 50% discount when you renew with Outpost 9.1!
After May 1st, 2014, users of older Outpost Pro versions will not receive update services, including antivirus, antispyware, ad and site blocking, firewall rules, and host protection module updates.
Unless your version number is 8.0 or higher, follow this link to download the latest version from our website and install it on top of the existing installation. Full instructions for upgrade can be found on our website.
The migration deadline is May 1, 2014, but we strongly recommend you don’t wait until the last minute.
Agnitum’s new AV lab continues the VB100 winning streak on Windows 8.1
Here is another well-earned Virus Bulletin certification on the brand-new Windows 8.1 platform! The tests were conducted in December 2013 yet the results were made official earlier this month. Outpost Security Suite Pro, ver. 8.1.2, wins Agnitum’s virus lab a third award in a row (three entries — three passes).
Agnitum’s virus lab, heir to a third-party antivirus technology, has been working at a record pace in the last 18 months to keep up with and outperform the seasoned competitors, delivering optimal antivirus protection to Outpost users.
The anti-malware module in Agnitum’s flagship product Outpost Security Suite Pro delivered flawless protection by detecting 100% of the samples from the main list and extended WildList collection, without a single false positive.
December 2013 comparatives encompassed 44 participants. Adding up to robust detection showings, Outpost garnered a "Solid" stability rating, outperforming 32 competitors with minor and major issues.
