Outpost security rules auto-apply effectiveness
|
The Improvenet system can rank network and local computer activities worldwide by occurrence.
- An example of network activity: Internet Explorer connects to the Web server.
- An example of local computer activity: Microsoft Word launches Internet Explorer to view a webpage when the user clicks on a web link embedded in a Word document.
Some of these activities occur more frequently than others, and for this report we reference the 100 activities that occur most often. However, Agnitum experts analyze all activities, not just the top 100, enabling them to cover as many activities as possible in support of the secure configuration of Outpost Firewall Pro.
So, the figure “xx%” shows that Outpost will automatically apply a rule pre-defined by Agnitum experts for xx of the 100 most-used computer activities worldwide.

1
Number of network services - the number of network services recognized by ImproveNet and for which
one or more rules for network activity have been approved by Agnitum
engineers. If any of these network activities occur at the local PC
level, Outpost automatically assigns a predefined rule
for this activity.
2
Number
of SHA256 applications identifiers
- the number of SHA256 identifiers for applications recognized by
ImproveNet. These identifiers - highly intelligent checksums - are used
to determine whether an application is legitimate and has not been
tampered by a malicious application.
3
Total
number of network rules
- the total number of pre-defined network rules that can be applied
automatically to ImproveNet subscribers' PCs when a certain network
activity occurs.
